Yes, a Democrat just backed a Republican in one of the country’s most crucial Senate races. And her colleagues are not taking it well.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called the move a “despicable betrayal,” Stevens’ chief of staff promptly resigned, and her office declared itself “shocked and heartbroken.”
