Hilda Vasquez, 34, was charged with negligent homicide and cruelty to a juvenile after her nonverbal, mentally disabled son Bryan was found dead in a lagoon near their New Orleans home. The boy vanished on August 12 and was discovered two weeks later, his body showing trauma “consistent with an alligator attack and drowning.”
Deputy Superintendent Nicholas Gernon said, “We believe this pattern of negligence and abuse led to undue pain and suffering on Bryan’s part.”
Vasquez had previously been convicted of child cruelty for breaking her infant son’s skull and legs. Now, police call it one of the “most emotional and really traumatic” cases they’ve ever seen… and this time, Louisiana wants justice.
