In court, officials revealed eerie handwritten notes they claim he wrote before allegedly killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, including a hand-drawn map and makeover tips straight out of a bargain-bin spy movie. One note warned, “Keep momentum, FBI slower overnight,” while another mapped out his alleged disguise: “Change hat, shoes, pluck eyebrows.” He even scolded himself to ditch his sneakers because “white stripes [are] too distinctive.”
Despite all the scheming, Mangione’s escape ended at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania after customers recognized him and called 911. Police say they found a 3D-printed gun, fake I.D., and a so-called “manifesto” in his bag.
