EXCLUSIVE: Kirsty MacColl's 25th Death Anniversary Sparks Fresh Accusations of 'Cover-Up' Over 'Fairytale of New York' Star's Tragic Passing
After 25 years, the man who owned the boat is back under scrutiny.
Kirsty MacColl's tragic death 25 years ago has reignited allegations of a "cover-up," with fresh claims the circumstances surrounding the beloved singer's passing remain clouded in mystery.
MacColl, best known for Fairytale of New York, was killed by a speedboat off the coast of Cozumel, Mexico, on December 18, 2000 – just a week before Christmas.
She was protecting her two sons, Jamie and Louis, then aged 15 and 14.
The singer’s ex-husband and father of her sons, producer Steve Lillywhite, has now publicly accused billionaire Guillermo Gonzalez Nova – once one of Mexico’s richest men – of orchestrating the crash to avoid a costly lawsuit.
