EXCLUSIVE: Tim Allen & Bill Maher Say DEI Killed Sitcoms — 'Not Everything Has to Look Like Angelina Jolie's Christmas Card'
Plus, viewers torch Tony Dokoupil’s 'train wreck' CBS debut while Dax Shepard’s parenting confession raises brows: RADAR'S KEEPING TABS
Signals are coming in hot — but don’t stress, we’re Keeping Tabs. Here’s the latest buzz and gossip that’s shaking up the conversation today…
EXCLUSIVE: Tim & Bill Blame DEI as Sitcom Comedy Fades
Sitcoms are dead – and Tim Allen and Bill Maher say DEI pulled the plug.
During a spicy chat on Maher’s Club Random podcast, the comedy vets tore into modern TV rules they claim are killing creativity. Allen admitted casting today feels impossible, griping that many of his old collaborators were “all light-skinned European older men, and that doesn’t fit the DEI thing that everybody wanted… they wanted, you know, a potpourri of…” – before Maher jumped in with “DEI in the cast.”
Allen doubled down: “If you’re going to do a sitcom, it’s just got to be funny.” Maher agreed, quipping, “Not everything in America has to look like Angelina Jolie’s Christmas card,” and joked about writing rooms by asking, “What if the show they’re writing is about a polka band in a ski town?”
Their bottom line: When comedy needs a rulebook, the punchlines usually lose.
Tony's CBS Evening News Debut Roasted as a 'Train Wreck' by Viewers
Tony Dokoupil’s first night behind the CBS Evening News desk was supposed to be a comeback moment – instead, it went off the rails… fast.
The new anchor stumbled through technical chaos and on-air confusion, even admitting “big problems here” as the broadcast unraveled. After opening with Nicolás Maduro’s arrest, Dokoupil couldn’t figure out which story was next, nervously blurting, “To other news… to Gov. Walz… No, we’re gonna do Mark Kelly.” When the wrong graphic rolled, he visibly melted down, asking the control room, “Are we going to Kelly here? Or are we going to go into Jonah Kaplan?”
The gaffes didn’t stop there – he later dubbed Minnesota the “Great Lakes state,” sending viewers into a frenzy. Critics piled on, calling the debut a “train wreck,” with one blasting, “First day, big problems here,” and another snarling, “Complete & utter incompetence on display.”
For a highly touted debut, this was not the kind of breaking news CBS wanted.
EXCLUSIVE: Dax Offered to Freeze Daughter's Eggs After Baby Remark
Dax Shepard just took dad advice to a whole new, eyebrow-raising level.
The actor, 51, revealed on Armchair Expert that after his 11-year-old daughter Delta said she “wants to have a baby,” he floated a very adult solution: egg freezing – and said he’d foot the bill. “And I said, ‘And I think we’ll, if you want to, we’ll freeze your eggs when you’re 18. I’ll pay for you to get your eggs frozen,’” Shepard recalled, insisting he wanted to be supportive, not judgmental.
Delta quickly shut down the idea of having kids at 18 – “What? No! 18?” – and even balked when Shepard guessed motherhood might come between 35 and 45, saying, “No, that’s crazy, that’s too old.” Shepard admitted, “Again, she’s 11, so that probably seems like 80.”
Co-host Monica Padman chimed in, “I do think the earlier the better.” Shepard agreed, arguing careers come first and adding, “It won’t be time for her to be in the house every night with a child.”
Parenting Shepard-style definitely doesn’t come with a manual.
EXCLUSIVE: Covenant Killer's Manifesto Criticized 'Biden's Horrible Gun Plans'
The Nashville Covenant School shooter didn’t just plot violence – she obsessed over politics, gun laws, and body counts.
In a disturbing 230-page manifesto, obtained by KEEPING TABS, Audrey Hale repeatedly railed against Joe Biden and what she called “Biden’s horrible gun plans” – mapping out gun laws, loopholes, and ways to keep weapons “safe from the Government.” Her notes warned families would be “vulnerable to crimes, drugs, and home infestation” without guns and labeled Biden’s views “scary (and) dangerous.”
Hale also chillingly ranked past school shootings by kill counts and injuries, tracked her weapons, weighed target schools, and openly admitted her goal was to be remembered. Police later concluded the massacre – which left three children and three adults dead – was carried out simply for notoriety.
As investigators put it, Hale “longed for her name and actions to be remembered long after she was dead.” Chilling.
Reiner Son Removed From Suicide Watch Before Arraignment
Nick Reiner’s horrifying case just took another grim turn.
The 32-year-old son of filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner has been removed from suicide watch as he sits in solitary confinement awaiting arraignment for their brutal murders. Nick was previously seen in court wearing a suicide-prevention smock, which has now been taken off ahead of his next hearing.
He faces two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances, potentially putting him on the hook for life without parole – or even the death penalty. Investigators have yet to reveal a motive, though insiders say Nick had a “very loud argument” with his father at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party just hours before the killings.
The longtime struggle with addiction and mental illness that insiders say tore the family apart now looms over a courtroom showdown no one wanted… and no one can escape.
Impeachment Panic: Trump Pleads for GOP Midterm Victories
Donald Trump isn’t mincing words – lose Congress and he says he’s toast.
Speaking to House Republicans at their member retreat, the 79-year-old president flat-out begged his party to win the midterms, warning a Democratic takeover would instantly put him back in impeachment peril. “You gotta win the midterms,” Trump stressed, before bluntly admitting, “Because if we don’t win the midterms, it’s just going to be – I mean, they’ll find a reason to impeach me. … I’ll get impeached.”
The plea came as Trump – already the first president impeached twice – faces sinking approval numbers and fresh scrutiny tied to January 6. GOP lawmakers also quietly released testimony from former special counsel Jack Smith, who torched Trump’s claims of political persecution.
Under oath, Smith said “the basis for those charges rests entirely with President Trump and his actions,” adding the Capitol riot “does not happen without him.”
Translation from Trump himself? Win – or impeach. Again.
