EXCLUSIVE: Trump DOJ Appeals Epstein Files Ruling as FBI Notes Fight Explodes
The battle over what remains hidden in the Epstein files just moved up another level.
President Donald Trump’s Justice Department filed notice Monday that it is appealing a federal judge’s order requiring Attorney General Todd Blanche to release certain Jeffrey Epstein-related records — or explain why they should remain secret.
The material includes underlying FBI interview notes used to prepare four FD-302 reports, redacted emails and documents containing names of potential co-conspirators. Judge Emmet Sullivan previously found journalist and attorney Katie Phang was likely to prevail on key claims and rejected the government’s request to pause his ruling.
Now there’s another headache. Phang’s attorneys claim DOJ lawyers were wrong when they suggested handwritten FBI notes underlying 302 reports had not previously been released, pointing to one example and saying they identified nearly 100 more.
The government says it already produced roughly 3.5 million pages. Phang says important material is still being withheld. Now an appeals court is being dragged into the fight over exactly what remains behind the black bars.

Lesley Vogel says one phone call from Hayden Panettiere left her devastated.
Hayden Panettiere’s estranged mother has revealed she was horrified when her daughter told her she had reunited with on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson shortly before her death.
“When I got the phone call from her saying, ‘I’m going to be with the person I love,’ I just lost it,” Vogel said. “I could not believe that she had gone that far back.”
Hickerson had previously served jail time after pleading no contest to two felony counts of injuring Panettiere, and Vogel described the relationship as a “toxic codependent bond.” She said the renewed romance ultimately contributed to her estrangement from her daughter after a therapist advised her to set boundaries.
Vogel believed the separation would be temporary. Days after Panettiere’s death at 36, she is now confronting the possibility that their final rupture never had the chance to heal.
Sonya Massey’s Killer Dies Just Six Months Into 20-Year Sentence
Sean Grayson will never serve the sentence imposed for killing Sonya Massey.
Former Illinois sheriff’s deputy Sean Grayson has died in prison at 32, only six months into a 20-year sentence for second-degree murder in Massey’s July 2024 shooting death.
Massey had called 911 to report a possible prowler before Grayson and another deputy entered her Springfield home. Bodycam footage captured the increasingly tense encounter, including Massey raising her hands and saying, “I’m sorry,” before Grayson fired three times and struck her in the face.
Grayson had already been battling colon cancer that spread to his liver and lungs, although his attorney said he could not confirm whether the disease caused his death. A request for early medical release had been unanimously denied in July.
Massey called police because she was frightened. Six months after the man convicted of killing her entered prison, his sentence has ended with his own death behind bars.

When their daughter asked whether the drama was “Donald Trump’s fault,” her parents gave her the simplest possible answer: “Yes.”
Rudy Giuliani Vows to Sue Tucker Carlson Over Hunter Biden Interview
Rudy Giuliani has a new target — and this time it isn’t a Democrat.
Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani says he is “seriously considering” suing Tucker Carlson over comments made during the podcaster’s recent interview with Hunter Biden.
Giuliani claims Carlson effectively endorsed the suggestion that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had played a role in the leak of Hunter Biden’s laptop material — and that Giuliani and Trump had therefore acted as Israeli “agents.”
“I’m gonna sue him!” Giuliani raged during a Newsmax appearance, adding: “I wasn’t an agent for anybody but myself and the United States of America and the man I was representing.”
Carlson has increasingly clashed with figures in Trump’s orbit, including Pete Hegseth over the Iran war. Now Giuliani wants to move that MAGA civil war out of the studio and into a courtroom.
