Hi everyone,

Donald Trump just suffered a brutal midterm election defeat. And now, the president could be staring down another impeachment nightmare.

Democrats have seized control of both the House and Senate, leaving the 80-year-old president facing a hostile Congress, a battered MAGA movement and some very uncomfortable questions about his political future.

And things could get ugly fast.

The Republican bloodbath included stunning Democratic victories in Texas, where James Talarico defeated Trump-backed Ken Paxton and Gina Hinojosa unseated Governor Greg Abbott.

Meanwhile, Sherrod Brown reclaimed Ohio’s Senate seat, with Democrats also making gains in Kansas, Iowa and the Carolinas.

Now, with Democrats preparing to take control in January, the possibility of another impeachment battle is looming.

But one political expert thinks that could be a spectacular mistake.

“The Democrats have a choice. They can address those issues and try and work to get cost of living matters down to focus on in in improving the economy, or they can pursue political vendettas,” Alan Mendoza, executive director of the Henry Jackson Society, told The U.S. Sun.

And he didn’t mince words.

“If they pursue political vendettas, they won’t get anywhere.”

There’s also one major problem with an impeachment push: Democrats may have the votes to impeach Trump in the House, but removing him from office would require a two-thirds majority in the Senate.

Mendoza isn’t convinced they can pull it off.

“They can’t actually successfully impeach him because they lack the number,” he warned.

And if Democrats make impeachment their priority?

“If they want to go down that route, it will show the Democrats have learned nothing and they will be appropriately punished in 2028.”

Meanwhile, Trump’s troubles go well beyond Capitol Hill.

The ongoing Iran war has sent economic shock waves through American households, with rising energy prices and cost-of-living pressures helping turn voters against Republicans.

“The key thing is that all the good work that Trump did domestically in his first two years back, was seemingly undone by the effects of the Iran War,” Mendoza said.

But don’t expect Trump to quietly accept defeat.

The president has already floated becoming “Mr. Veto,” threatening to block legislation from the incoming Democratic Congress.

And with Democrats potentially divided between moderates and progressives, Trump could still find ways to make their lives miserable.

He also retains significant foreign policy powers, meaning battles over Iran, China and Russia aren’t going away anytime soon.

As Mendoza put it: “I think it’s difficult though for all of us to imagine that Donald Trump is going to just be a hermit in the White House for the next two years.”

So Democrats may have won Congress, but the real political warfare could just be getting started.

Trump’s MAGA machine has taken a beating. Now the question is whether Democrats will use their newfound power to govern — or go straight for his presidency.

Either way, the next two years are shaping up to be anything but peaceful.

Stay tuned.
