A nonprofit is asking a federal judge for emergency access before ongoing repairs erase what it claims is key evidence in its lawsuit. The Cultural Landscape Foundation wants to inspect and photograph the drained basin before it’s refilled.
Founder Charles Birnbaum told KEEPING TABS he believes “the required review process was not followed before work” on the Reflecting Pool, an issue he said “lies at the heart of the lawsuit.”
The Justice Department wants the case dismissed, arguing the Foundation lacks legal standing.
Seems like this pool’s biggest ripple is happening in court.

As rapper D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, prepares for trial, prosecutors showed a judge gruesome crime scene photos of 16-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez's mutilated and dismembered body during a preliminary hearing.
Her remains were found in the trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke after she'd been missing for months. According to Lawyer Herald, "People in attendance reacted audibly as the images were shown," while Hernandez's mother reportedly "covered her mouth."
Prosecutors say the photos support their claim Burke tried to destroy evidence by mutilating the teen's body. Burke, 21, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains.
