Beloved funnyman Martin Short has spent decades cracking up audiences while privately enduring staggering loss. The 75-year-old star lost his wife, Nancy Dolman, to ovarian cancer in 2010 – and now is grieving his daughter Katherine, 42, who died February 23.
“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” his rep said. “The Short family is devastated… Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
Short, who also lost his brother and both parents before 21, once reflected: “Something terrible can happen to you… the sun still rises… and therefore, so must you.”
He made a career out of comedy – but surviving tragedy may be his bravest act of all.

Before Donald Trump delivered his State of the Union, an NPR report alleged the United States Department of Justice withheld dozens of documents tied to accusations involving Trump and Jeffrey Epstein.
The FBI reportedly interviewed a woman four times in 2019 over claims she was 13 when the two men allegedly abused her. Only paperwork from the first interview – where she made no allegations against Trump – was released, while NPR says 50+ pages from later interviews were cataloged but not made public.
The DOJ fired back: “We have not deleted anything, and as we have always said, all documents responsive were produced,” saying the rest were “duplicates, privileged, [or] part of an ongoing federal investigation.”
Seems like the real drama may be off-script.

Bryan Kohberger’s deadly fantasy ended in a life sentence.
The Idaho killer was sentenced to life without parole after pleading guilty to the savage 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students: Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle.
Autopsies revealed the four were stabbed more than 150 times combined, with Kernodle suffering over 67 wounds and Goncalves nearly 40. And now, a forensic psychologist believes it was “a targeted psychosexual fantasy probably aimed at one individual in the house.”
“He overestimated himself and underestimated women,” the expert said, claiming Kohberger’s “intel failed him,” turning one intended victim into mass murder. “You punish the ones who see you – the people who interrupt your fantasy,” he added.
On July 23, 2025, Kohberger was sentenced to life without parole… a cell instead of an execution, but no escape from infamy.
Judge Rejects Robinson's Bid to Remove Utah Prosecutors in Kirk Case
No courtroom curveball here.
A judge just shut down accused killer Tyler Robinson’s bid to boot Utah prosecutors from his trial in the campus slaying of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.
Robinson’s lawyers argued a prosecutor should be disqualified because his child attended the Turning Point USA event and texted “SOMEONE GOT SHOT” before later saying, “I’m okay, everyone is going inside.” They claimed an “emotional connection” could sway the case.
Prosecutors fired back: “(The attorney) has no personal conflict of interest because his (child) is neither a material witness nor a victim in the case.” Judge Tony Graf agreed.
Meanwhile, Kirk’s widow is pushing for speed, writing: “The Defendant in this case is entitled to a fair trial… but he is not entitled to cause undue delay.”
Trial drama denied… now the real battle begins.
Patel's Olympics Trip Sparks Questions After Beer-Chugging Backlash
