Hey Radar Substackers, Michael East here.

Four college students were murdered. Two roommates survived. And more than seven hours passed before anyone called 911.

Now, nearly four years after the University of Idaho murders, surviving roommate Dylan Mortensen is back in the spotlight – and she’s fighting to keep certain police records from being released.

Mortensen was inside the Moscow, Idaho, home when Bryan Kohberger murdered Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin in November 2022.

She heard strange noises, crying and a man’s voice. She even opened her bedroom door and spotted a masked stranger walking through the house.

But she didn’t call the police.

Instead, phone records show Mortensen messaging her roommates around 4:20 a.m., describing a man wearing something resembling a ski mask. Nobody answered.

She also exchanged frightened messages with fellow survivor Bethany Funke, who urged her to come downstairs.

Still, no 911 call.

And here’s where things get even more unsettling.
