Jay-Z is set to face the next phase of a high-stakes legal battle in New York after a federal judge ruled his lawsuit alleging extortion through a false sexual-assault claim by an unnamed accuser and and her attorney, Tony Buzbee, should be transferred out of Alabama and heard in Manhattan.

The decision sends Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s case to the Southern District of New York, placing it back in the same federal court where the original allegations against him first emerged.

What had been a jurisdiction fight over where the case should be heard has now been resolved – but the core dispute remains far from settled.
