Read Word-for-Word: Donald Trump's $16M Reflecting Pool Makeover Faces New Court Heat
Court filing claims the algae outbreak and peeling blue surface were the “foreseeable result” of a rushed White House deadline.
Donald Trump’s controversial $16 million Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool overhaul may be headed back to square one – and critics say the project is already unraveling in public.
The Cultural Landscape Foundation has filed a supplemental notice in federal court urging a judge to fast-track its lawsuit against the Interior Department over the makeover. The group argues the problems now visible at one of Washington, D.C.’s most recognizable landmarks prove its original warnings were right.
Shortly after the pool was refilled and declared finished, a green algae bloom reportedly spread across the water. The filing also says the blue material affixed to the bottom of the pool appeared to be “peeling away in chunks.”
But the algae and peeling surface are just the beginning.
