READ WORD-FOR-WORD: Inside Alleged WHCD Shooter Cole Tomas Allen's 'Punitive' Jail Hell — as Lawyers Say Suicide Watch Is 'Unnecessary' & Unconstitutional
His legal team says the extreme lockdown is interfering with his ability to defend himself.
Cole Tomas Allen – the accused gunman in a shocking alleged assassination attempt targeting President Donald Trump – is now fighting conditions inside a D.C. jail his lawyers say are “punitive,” extreme, and unconstitutional.
Allen allegedly opened fire during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 25 in what prosecutors called a “premeditated, violent, and calculated to cause death” attack – and now faces charges including attempted assassination of the president, interstate transportation of weapons, and discharging a firearm during a violent crime.
In a newly filed motion, Allen’s attorneys are asking a federal judge to remove him from suicide precautions at the D.C. Jail, arguing the restrictions amount to punishment – despite multiple evaluations finding no signs he is suicidal.
According to the filing, Allen has been held in a “safe cell,” described as a padded room with “constant lighting and 24-hour lockdown procedures,” where he is required to wear “a vest akin to a strait jacket” and is strip searched when entering and exiting.
And the conditions go even further… unlock the full court filing below.
